Not eating can hinder weight loss, study in fruit flies suggests

In behavioral experiments using the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster, a research team at the University of Cologne’s Institute of Zoology studied the control of food intake in the brain. Similar to humans, molecules similar to insulin regulate food intake in fruit flies. Among other things, this is influenced by a neurotransmitter system that mediates decisions.
